About March 6th, 2008
Welcome! Here is a little background about who I am and why I do what I do. Hopefully you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoyed working on it and if you have any questions, thoughts or concerns, feel free to shoot them my way at mike@freemikekelly.org.
Currently I am a web developer for a boutique web company called Code & Theory. Our office is located in the Soho district of New York City and we have clients ranging in scale from Comedy Central and MTV to Patricia Cornwell and Hitachi. As a programmer who lives to create clean and efficient code that is also extensible and light, I have been given a great opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced programmers out there. I now consider myself an expert in PHP, MySQL, CSS, XHTML, WordPress and Javascript and consider myself fluent in Java, Ruby on Rails, CakePHP, Linux Server Administration, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Of course, that list grows almost weekly as I’m always ready to master the next big technology. Considering I was programming in GW-BASIC as a 5th grader, I’d say I’ve come a long way!
Beyond my love of programming, I am also a tech guy who enjoys taking things apart and putting them back together. In fact, I’m the go to guy anytime one of the Code & Theory computers acts up and on one of our projects, Band in the Bubble, I was the lead for the web cam video portion of the job. As a guy with a love for the outdoors, who has spent his entire life to date on the East Coast, I’m ready to throw my bike on my Jeep and head out to a part of the country where the grass to pavement ratio is a little better!
